Privacy Policy for Answer Points

Answer Points is a Google Forms™ add-on made by Coalball Labs, a one-person software studio run by an individual developer based in Japan. This policy explains what the add-on and the website coalballlabs.com do with your information. Questions: coalball.labs@gmail.com.
The short version
- The add-on runs entirely inside your Google account on Google Apps Script.
- Your form responses and scores are never sent to or stored on Coalball Labs servers.
- The add-on can see and edit only the form you open it in and the spreadsheets it creates. It can't see your other files.
- The website stores the email address you give us for the Pro waitlist, plus anonymous page-event counts. No cookies, no third-party trackers.
- We don't sell data or use it for advertising.
1. The Answer Points add-on
Permissions we request
The add-on requests only these four Google OAuth scopes:

Google user data the add-on accesses
- Form structure: question titles, question types, answer options, and grid rows and columns, so you can assign points in the sidebar.
- Form responses: the answers in each response, the submission time, the response ID, and the respondent's email address if your form collects it. The add-on reads these only to calculate scores.
How the add-on uses it
The add-on uses this data for one purpose: to calculate each response's score and write it to a Scores spreadsheet in your own Google Drive. That spreadsheet contains the submission time, respondent email (if collected), total, max, percent, points per question and response ID.
Where it's stored
All processing happens on Google's Apps Script platform, under your Google account. The add-on stores:
- In your form's document properties (hidden settings attached to the form): your point values, whether auto-scoring is on, a monthly count of scored responses, and the most recent error message, if any.
- In the add-on's per-user settings in your Google account (Apps Script user properties): the ID of your Scores spreadsheet for each form.
- In your Google Drive: the Scores spreadsheet, which you own.
Form responses and scores are never sent to or stored on Coalball Labs servers. We can't read them.
Error logs
If the add-on hits an error, Google Apps Script may record the error message in logs in the Google Cloud project we use to publish the add-on. We use these logs only to find and fix bugs. The add-on doesn't intentionally write response content to these logs. Google also gives us aggregate statistics, such as install counts.
Sharing
We don't sell, rent or share Google user data. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't use it to train AI models. We don't transfer it to anyone, except where required by law.
Limited Use
Answer Points' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
2. The website (coalballlabs.com)
- Pro waitlist: if you join, we store your email address in a Cloudflare D1 database. We use it only to email you about the Pro launch, plus one or two product updates at most. You can unsubscribe anytime. We'll name our email delivery provider in this policy before we send the first email.
- Anonymous page-event counts: we count events such as page views and button clicks without cookies and without third-party trackers. These counts aren't linked to you.
- Hosting: the site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
- Email to us: if you email coalball.labs@gmail.com, we keep the message and your address to answer you.
Cloudflare and Google may process data outside Japan, including in the United States.
3. How long we keep data
- Add-on data stays in your Google account until you delete it. See "Uninstalling" below.
- Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we stop offering Answer Points.
- Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you, and you can ask us to delete them.
4. Uninstalling and deleting your data
- In the Answer Points sidebar, click Turn off to stop scoring new responses.
- Uninstall the add-on from its Google Workspace Marketplace page. You can also remove its access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Delete the Scores spreadsheet from your Google Drive if you don't need it.
- Optional: email coalball.labs@gmail.com to delete your waitlist email.
Since we never receive your responses or scores, there's nothing on our side to delete for the add-on itself.
5. Children
Answer Points and coalballlabs.com aren't directed at children under 13. If you use the add-on with forms that students or other minors answer, their responses stay in your Google account, and you're responsible for any consent your school or organization requires.
6. Your rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email coalball.labs@gmail.com and we'll reply.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date. If Pro adds new data uses, such as sending result emails, we'll describe them here before Pro launches.
